Our Background
Starting well before World War II as a commercial representation of the French railroads, the Rail Europe Group was created in its present form in 1991 when the wholly owned U.S. subsidiary of SNCF, the French National Railroad, merged with the North American arm of the Swiss Federal Railways. While it is still a subsidiary of the SNCF and the CFF (Swiss Federal Railways), Rail Europe is also the official North American representative for 60 European railroads, the latest addition being the 25 Train Operating Companies of Britain.

Over the past decade, Rail Europe has evolved into the largest distributor of European rail products, catering to both the leisure and the business traveler. Each year, more than one million American leisure and business travelers use one of our products.

In addition to other exciting journey trains, we give you Eurostar, the new international standard in rail travel, which offers service between London, Paris and Brussels through the Channel Tunnel.
