The William Tell Express links German-speaking Central Switzerland with Italian-speaking Ticino. The tour starts in Lucerne or Locarno. When travelling from Lucerne you'll board a nostalgic paddle steamer for a 3-hour cruise on Lake Lucerne and enjoy a gourmet meal. At Fluelen, passengers board an air-conditioned panoramic train and travel through the steep ravines and precipitous cliffs of the Reuss Valley, passing the historic Gotthard railway tunnel. On the south side, many breath-taking bridges are crossed, passing by charming villages down the valley towards Lugano or Locarno. When starting travel from Locarno, travel is the reverse of Lucerne.

The William Tell offers the trip on a paddle steamer in first class, and the train journey in first or second class air-conditioned coaches. Reservations are compulsory and include seats on the boat and train, the Swiss lunch as well as a detailed journey documentation and a souvenir. The William Tell Express operates only from May 1, 2008 - October 19, 2008.
